GLOBAL | June 2025 Turns out your plain old cup of black coffee might be protecting your heart but only if you skip the sweeteners.
A Tufts University study, tracking over 46,000 U.S. adults for nearly two decades, found that drinking 1–2 cups of black coffee daily reduced the risk of death from heart disease by 14–16%.
The science: Coffee contains antioxidants like polyphenols, which reduce inflammation. But loading your brew with cream and sugar cancels the benefits.
