Why Clear Cut exists
Social development stories deserve sustained attention. A policy announcement is a starting point. The larger questions concern implementation, access, quality and outcomes. Who benefits? Who remains excluded? What changes on the ground?
Clear Cut examines these questions through reporting, research and conversations with people working across the development sector. We look at progress, gaps and the lessons that emerge from both.
Evidence before opinion
Our editorial approach places evidence at the centre of the story. We draw on government data, published research, policy documents and accounts from practitioners and communities.
We aim to explain what the evidence shows, where it has limitations and which questions remain unanswered. An individual experience can illuminate an issue, but it should not be presented as a national finding. Similarly, an encouraging result deserves attention without being treated as proof that a model will work everywhere.
Our writing is intended to be clear, accessible and useful.
