Ahead of Holi, Uttar Pradesh released ₹1500 crore LPG refill subsidy for 1.86 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries, providing financial relief and promoting clean cooking fuel. The program was held at Lok Bhavan, Lucknow, with district-level events across the state.
A Festive Initiative to Support Households
As families throughout Uttar Pradesh were gearing up to celebrate Holi, some were receiving some of much-needed financial aids via the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The government disbursed ₹1,500 crore in the form of LPG refill subsidy, benefiting ₹1.86 crore Ujjwala beneficiary families in all its state districts during a state-level program held at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow. This was a move to alleviate the financial strain on households and make clean cooking fuel still available to them over the festive period.
Bringing the Program Closer to Local Communities
To make sure that the beneficiaries in the different districts were able to participate in the initiative, district level programs were also arranged in conjunction with the main event. In Gautam Buddha Nagar, the program was conducted at the Collectorate building, where live broadcasting of the state-level event of Lucknow was provided.

This enabled local beneficiaries to see the announcement and know what support is being given. In the district program, symbolic cheques of subsidies were given to the chosen beneficiaries. As a sign of the financial support being offered in the scheme, BJP District President Abhishek Sharma and Chief Development officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi delivered symbolic cheques to 50 beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme.
Financial Relief Through LPG Subsidy Support
The personnel in the districts claimed that the beneficiaries were given subsidy assistance in filling LPG cylinders as part of the program. Symbolic cheques of the value ₹550.5 per refill were propagated in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
The retail cost of a 14.2 kg cylinder of LPG is ₹850.5 out of which ₹550.5 is given by the state government in form of subsidy and₹300 by the central government. This financial support is used to make sure that families will not be pressured by the high financial costs of using LPG cylinders, that is, they will be able to afford to use the cylinders without undue financial strain, particularly at critical festivals.
Supporting Clean Energy and Household Well-Being
The subsidy distribution program points out to the continued activities to aid economically vulnerable households and encourage the use of clean cooking fuel. The initiative was announced before the Holi holiday, and as a continuation of the efforts to offer financial support and consolidate household access to energy among the beneficiaries of Ujjwala.

Looking Ahead
LPG refill subsidies play a crucial role in ensuring affordable access to clean cooking energy for households. By reducing fuel costs, these schemes will help families sustain safer cooking practices while strengthening energy security and improving overall well-being. Continued support for such initiatives remains essential to enhance the quality of life for millions across the state.
